I now understand considerably more. I was aware of some of the things you
mentioned and not aware of others. It is a pity you chose not to explain it
earlier. These words:

were rather inappropriately used IMO.


For the record: I just received a message from A&R. They claim that the
Australian publishers (Pan Macmillan) are the ones who made the decision not
to publish in Australia. A&R claims that they will make the book available,
through 'grey' import (my terminology), to their customers who want a copy.
They are, apparently, constrained by the Copyright Act, WRT when that will
occur.

The plot thickens.
