What a shame I'm not looking to be friends with you :)

As you can here in Vic as well, but the punishment isn't the same.
If you get caught drink driving you'll be fined, and will almost certainly
lose your licence unless there are very extenuating circumstances which
means not only do you cop a financial punishment but are banned from using a
motor vehicle on a public road for a set period (as you should be).
If you get caught riding a bike whilst under the influence (and I know a
couple of people who have) you'll get a fine (if you're unlucky enough to
get a copper who thinks it worthy of going to court), but that fine won't be
anything like what it would be if you were driving a car or riding a
motorcycle, and (unlike a motorist) that will be the limit of your penalty,
as you have no unique bicycle licence for them to suspend thus preventing
you from riding your bicycle on a public road.
Another example of how bicycle riders get out of gaol free compared to other
road users.
For what it's worth, the two people I knew who were caught riding bicycles
whilst drunk got different penalties. One got three months in the slot, and
that was principally because he broke the jaw of the copper than tried to
book him :), and the other got a fine the amount of which I can't remember
but was the same as what you would likely be fined for being drunk in a
public place.
