You don't seem to have quite understood the argument, it was that
the tories look particularly weak trying to beat up the trivial
luxury tax rise on a few cars, raising a few thousands of dollars,
when they were responsible for the GST, raising tens of billions
each year AND this byudget contains delivery on a PROMISE(something
Howard couldn't even spell ;-) of $46.7 billion in TAX CUTS!!!!

Oh there is no doubt it raises buckets and buckets of revenue,
governments of all persuasion love the way it keeps growing,
without the opprobrium of announcing tax increases, automatically
indexed for inflation, keeping them awash in dollars,
even if the poor, the pensioners and those on fixed incomes
'capacity to pay' does not increase at the same rate!
It's a regressive tax, good for governments, and the ALP is just as
greedy for mammoth surpluses as the tories, but not for the people.
The argument, which you have overlooked to focus only on an aside,
is that the most significant difference is that this government has
KEPT ITS PROMISES, not duped the electorate with 'non-core' lies.
Oh, BTW, I trimmed 'alt..wits', if you want to keep in touch
with your family, friends and workmates at tory central, send them
an email! B^D
