Subject: Next grandchild- US, & Class A UK, Citizenship

I am delighted to announce (God willing) grandchild #10 (white) in
approx. March '08
My good daughter can nip over to the UK for the birth which will
result in the child getting class_A UK Citizenship ('by reason other
than descent' i.e. he/she will be born in the UK);
And the sprog will be also US Citizen, provided my daughter puts in
another 3 months US residence before the birth (and keeps her passport
to prove it) and can therefore 'transmit' such Citizenship. (Don't
ask)
I find all these regulations weird and wonderful..
They seem pettifogging after the US cheerfully admits 20 million
illegals since 1965 and permits them so far to work and draw
benefits .. (until this very week that is .. more later on this
amazing U-turn)
