Hi landhopper,
If you indicate which POE you'll be coming through, you'll probably get
a more specific response. And also what kind of visa? From what
country? Each POE experience is different depending on the above
information, and depending on the individual.
My Iranian fiance came through the POE at JFK. It took about 2 hours to
get through. They opened his sealed envelope at the first station,
stamped some paperwork and sent him to secondary. At secondary they had
him fill out another form, then did a special registration for him since
he's Iranian and that's required for him. They stamped more papers,
took a digital print and photo, and sent us on to customs.
