I am sponsoring my Canadian fiance. He has sent back the checklist
saying that he has the police certificate, medical exam, I-134, etc
etc to Montreal and we are waiting to hear back for an interview date.
He sent that in mid-late October and in the packet it said that they
were currently operating 4-6 months from receipt of his checklist to
interview date, so that's February at the earliest. My petition to
sponsor him will expire in December.
I am unclear on the process of extending the petition. Do I need to re-
file it, or send in some other form or letter so that the left hand
knows that the right hand is still awaiting a date? Or is this
something only his visa officer will determine, at the point of
interview (and I/he need do nothing in particular, but wait)?
