Hello, everyone. My husband is British and I'm American. We lived in
Britain for several years but have now decided to settle in America.
We're living with my parents until his green card come in. And that's
where I have some questions.
First of all, please don't jump on me for saying this, but I had no
idea it would be this hard. I mean, it only took about a month to get
my visa from the British consulate, so I justumed it would be like
that for my hubby when we came here. We filed the I-130 back in
September, but still haven't heard anything. I know they're having
delays, but I'm still getting worried. Should I be concerned, or am I
just being paranoid? It's frustrating because while I'm out working
poor hubby is sitting around twiddling his thumbs.
Also, do y'all think it would be a good idea to hire an immigration
attorney? My uncle immigrated from a foreign country 20 years ago,
and my aunt said they just hired an attorney and everything went
smoothly. Would an attorney be able to speed things up in any way?
Again, I apologize for my ignorance. When we got my British visa, it
was simple. Fill out the form, supply the documentation, then they
rubber-stamped it and that was it. I didn't know it would be so
involved over here. |
