That's the time they give on the embassy website, but I've read on
here that it could be as quick as 1 month.

that's good to know because in that case, I could probably use my
equity too. It seems that it should count that we're highly-educated
and both have salaries here, so we should be able to find equivalent
jobs there.

Unfortunately, my family members are usually in dire straits and
barely make above the poverty line themselves.
I'm re-thinking applying for the green card though. Perhaps we will
wait until we're more likely to have a job offer.
