I'd be really grateful if anyone could offer some advice regarding
immigration.
I am a British resident in a relationship with an American girl. I
moved to California in January 2007 on an F1 Student Visa, and
commenced studies to complete my degree. In July 2008 I completed my
degree. My F1 visa has now changed into one year of Optional
Practical Training so that I can work in the US for one year,
commencing July 2008. In August 2008 my partner and I got married in
California.
I would like to permanently stay and work in the US. I am rather at a
loss as to which process to take, and which forms to fill out, and
would be grateful if anyone could offer any advice. I'm not sure if I
should apply for permanent immigrant status, or to change my status,
as I am already here. Is there an established set of procedures that
one should follow in such circumstances?
