The 2010 Census Survey and Importance of Participation of Undocumented
Aliens in the Survey
The population of undocumented aliens tend to be focused in certain
identifiable districts and states in the nation. Result of the 2010
Census will change the landscape of the political bases of the
Republican and Democratic parties in those districts and eventually on
a national scale.
The count of these undocumented aliens can hold in a sense a wild card
since the result of the Survey can bring about changes in the number
of districts and political color of each House district. Some states
may lose the number of their representation in the House and the two
parties can have a different number of representations in the House
after November 2010 Mid-Term National Election.
Assuming that the final resolution of the CIR may have to be turned
over to the Year 2010 after a wild forest fire of CIR debates blowing
and spreading all over the country this year, one cannot discount the
critical nature of changes in political landscape for the nation's
party politics and its impact on the chances of a successful
resolution of the CIR within the year 2010.
These undocumented aliens and, for that matter, immigrants in general,
do not have a right to vote but can seize a momentum to influence the
color of the new local and national political landscape by massively
participating in the Census Survey. In a way, it can be more powerful,
albeit invisible, than actual participation in the voting process.
In this regard, we urge the immigrant communities including both legal
and illegal,, start the movement of organizing and engaging in massive
campaigns for their participation in the upcoming Census Survey.
Remember that behind the science, there is an ongoing struggle between
the parties on the Census Survey, which resulted in resignation of a
Republican Senator who participated in the Obama Cabinet as Secretary
of Interior to return to the Senate.
The Department of Interior is the government agency that manages the
National Census! "Invisible" voice can turn into a "powerful" voice
for the direction of Nation's future, not to mention the stakes of
immigrants.
