For Canadian visitors Air Travel to the U.S. Gets Easier!
Flying to the United States will be faster and more convenient for Canadian=
s who will have access to expedited security checks at airports from early =
2013, the federal government announced Thursday.
The NEXUS card program will expedite travel to the U.S. for pre-approved an=
d low-risk passengers as part of a broader security agreement signed by Can=
adian and U.S. officials on December 7, 2011. Canadians will soon be able t=
o use NEXUS cards as accepted proof of identity for frequent travelers at C=
anadian and U.S. border crossings.
The NEXUS card program will be available at Canada's eight largest airports=
in Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Van=
couver. The card will cost $50 and be valid for five years. According to th=
e U.S. Government, the change will allow passengers to book connecting flig=
hts with tighter timelines. It will also result in fewer missed connections=
and delays as well as additional costs for airports and airlines.
