I agree. But all that does is shift up a bit the speed at which the two
second 'rule' brings you within the overall stopping distance. It may
quite likely be about 50mph now rather than the 40mph that can be
calculated from the overall stopping distance figures given in the
Highway Code. But that doesn't alter the fact that the higher the speed
over that figure, the more you are driving within the overall stopping
distance if you leave just a two second gap, and the more fundamentally
dangerous it is.
