That would be a waste of time. Allegation made for any offence now gives a
power of arrest and suspicion of someone telling an officer something
happened without any evidence is sufficient grounds.

They could try complaining to an Inspector but it would be a complete waste
of time as all due proceedures were carried out given the circumstances as
described. Unfortunately the police now arrest for these waste of time
circumstances and no common sense is allowed.
