We've discussed this before without reaching a definitive outcome, but my
view remains that your only option is to refuse to accept Bail. Legally,
it constitutes a promise (a recognizance) to surrender at the appointed
time, and in my opinion therefore requires your consent. If you decline
to accept it then the Police would theoretically have to put you before a
Court or release you unconditionally.
But.... This doesn't prevent the Police from simply rearresting you a few
weeks later, which may be inconvenient for you. There are also those who
say that even if you do decline Bail, the Police are likely to say "well
you've got it anyway" and throw you out of the door. Whether you could
then be prosecuted for failing to comply with it is an interesting Q.
(IANAL, and you probably need one of those)
