It depends what the medication is and what quantity you require.

This has happened to me a couple of times.

Once I forgot one of my packs - went in to a local pharmacy and produced the
counterpart of my script (it's always best to carry them as proof) and was
*sold* an emergency supply (I think it was for 5 or 7 days)

The other time I failed to pick up my whole medical travel pack, insulin,
etc from the fridge (I had one day's supply in my pocket). I just called a
local GP + explained - they saw me within the hour and just wrote out new
prescriptions without any problem.
