No problem if your employer is not giving away taxpayers money. Otherwise I
think we need to make a distiction on whether;
You can claim the actual cost of a new kitchen up to a £12000 limit, or
You can claim £12000, out of which you buy a cheaper kitchen and pocket the
difference, or
You can claim £12000 for a kitchen you say your son built, but on closer
inspection there is no new kitchen.
