Sometimes, yes. They mainly work on their own anyway but there
are patients that require there to be two in attendance
(sometimes because of mobility or size, sometimes for personal
safety). All days start at the office where they usually go their
separate ways but when they have been allocated jobs that require
them to double up ( the colleague is also allocated to them ) it
is sometimes easier to go straight from the office and if there
are 2 or 3 such jobs ( running in a circle back to near the
office ) it is a common sense thing that helps keep costs down.
The other problem here is that as part of her job (and the
others) the mentor student nurses for a couple of months a year.
In this instance, the student most definitely has to travel with
the district nurse.
