Subject: SKY News Tonight - Latest Opinion Poll Labour In Free Fall Posted on: Thu, 27 Mar 2008 19:13:04 +0000 (UTC)

Latest opinion polls show Labour 19 points behind.

But even more worrying for Labour their support in Scotland is
imploding and party membership is being described as haemorrhaging.

The recent budget would appear to be a straw that=92s broken the camel=92s
back as voters reel from ever more taxation of the sort they now
perceive to be extortionate and providing very poor value for money.

The recent debate about Maths class sizes (sixty or more) was also
very badly timed in Scotland highlighting the increasing concern of
just what all this taxation is for if we can=92t even manage decent
class sizes?

A Scottish party spokesperson said, =93The taxation message is on its
knees now, the electorate just doesn=92t believe us anymore.=94

=93The feedback we=92ve been receiving in the last week or so has been
very angry I=92ve not experienced this level of anger since the poll
tax.=94

=93It=92s notable that David Cameron has also come out of the closet on
tax in recent days something he was previously reluctant to do but it
shows the change in the public mood that he finally feels able to do
so.=94

=93I think we have probably gone too far on tax and it=92s going to be
very difficult for us to turn it around before the next election.=94
