I have to say that I don't broadly agree with your view of EU
regulations, but on this issue you are spot on, and both HIPs and money
laundering are classic examples.
Client confidentiality is now a myth thanks to money laundering
regulations which require a solicitor to grass up his client to the
authorities if, for example, the guy produces too much cash without an
ironclad reason.
