Problem is two-fold. People lie to the police to suit their own agenda - to
rid themselves of a nuisance, to cause trouble for someone, because they are
too embarrassed to tell the truth, but for so many police to lie to their
colleagues, their clients and to themselves. I had enough and had to get
out, along with many others I know.

I don't see any solution either, as the bad practice is so ingrained that
it's considered normal and I was criticised for being "too honest" and had
complaints from colleagues for being to helpful to prisoners. When I had
the audacity to point out that a colleague had in fact arrested a victim of
a crime...... and in one 'job' I had the misfortune to see all the witnesses
were arrested!!!! And this was authorised by the Custody Sargeant.
