Home Secretary Jacqui Smith has announced plans for a national 'bum-
print' database. In addition to finger printing and DNA samples, any
suspect being arrested by Police will have a print of their bottom
taken.
Police Chiefs say that the new database will help reduce the recent
spate of "mooning" at mobile safety camera, such as the incident on
the A1171 in Northumberland, as reported by the BBC last week.
The new law will be rushed though Parliament under emergency powers
contained in anti-terrorism legislation. The database will be online
by early June.
