And I put it to you that hardly any job comprises *only* of those
things that may be in the job description.
A taxi driver must also act so as to increase rather than decrease the
probability of getting repeat business. If the gender, race, colour
or size of the driver is of itself likely to reduce the probability of
getting repeat business, then it is tough - the driver is unsuitable
for the job through no fault of their own.
Similarly, if the employment of a person of certain physical
appearance is likely to have a negative impact on the productivity of
other employees, I do not have a problem if they are overlooked for
consideration for the position due only to that aspect - even if they
are the best qualified candidate wrt the stated job description.
