I agree this is largely about one man's obsession. Your problem is
that you make that statement in such a way as to imply that obsession
is always a bad thing. Not so. Taking only two other examples,
Immanuel Velikovsky and Hans Ruesch undoubtedly were obsessed with
their respective subjects, and these two men have made highly valuable
contributions to understanding the human predicament and ultimately
healing our 'bent' civilisation.
