Stolen car tracks owner

Mumbai, May 13: The stolen car of a Marine Drive-based stockbroker was
recovered within 90 minutes, thanks to the equipment installed in the
car that tracked it. All the broker did was to send a "find"
instruction to the equipment, which in return sent an address to where
the car was parked.
Around 4.32 am on Sunday, Mr Rajesh Ajmera’s Mahindra Scorpio sent him
a message on his cellphone that someone was trying to open his car
forcibly while it was parked on Churchgate’s C Road.
"The message was sent by a software equipment installed in my car
called Micro VBB, which is a black box that alerts the owner if the
car moves or anyone tries to open it without his knowledge," Mr Ajmera
said.
"Mr Ajmera did not want to waste time travelling by road. So our
police team went with him by train and in one and a half hours time,
we found the car deserted on a bridge in Kalyan," said investigating
officer and assistant police inspector Anil Katkade, of the Marine
Drive police station.
"The vehicle was taken to several places before it was deserted in
Kalyan. I locked the vehicle remotely, so that the robbers could not
escape, but they broke the wiring and opened the car," said Mr Ajmera.
He added that he has 12 vehicles and is planning to instal the Micro
VBB software, costing around Rs 15,000 ( $400) in all his vehicles.
"If this software is installed by other citizens then stealing
vehicles won’t be an easy job for the robbers," he added.
