Fruit flies maybe possible some wasps lookinf for sweetness but standard
flies prefer rotting meat as food for their maggots.
Most likely ground invertibrates would eat it and, in my experience, the
increasingly endangered voles love apples cores. In a local stream if I want
to watch voles I lob half an apple into the water and it normally attarcts a
vole.
