The breach on the rules governing the legal practising certificate
were behind Lumb and kenningham when Sutcliffe was arrested, no
impediment had been reported to the Law Society so what was at Stake
for them and Sutcliffe?
The time of year was fast approaching when renewing there professional
cover was on them, to admit the breach would cause grief, and to admit
cheating the tax man would cause grief. And Sutcliffe refused to go
elsewhere and anyway Lumb and kenningham wanted him as a client and
Macgill was instructed to drop his pants if necessary to keep him.

1. Tax evasion
2. Not being able to renew there professional cover without fatal
