Back when the 55 mph foolishness was in effect, the CHP would fail to
show up if you were driving safely, but illegally. They seemed to
fiogure that tro ytips to the courthouse was punic=3Dshment for merely
breaking a silly rule. (NOTE: I drove an econimical car, so that may
have made a difference.)
Perhaps the officer faikled to appear because the turn you made was
safe, but his being there was obvious to other people and he couldn't
let you pass. ad I bee the officer I probably would have tou=3Drn you up
one side and down the other for being an idiot. One CHP officer did
that because I sped past him, then got in front of him. thus breaking
up his trailing of some other speeder. He let me go, figuring my wife
would do more damage to me by telling everyone of my stupidity than a
court visit would.
I would have refused the instant trial and requested permission to
leave, in your case. |
