Subject: Car Ownership Posted on: Fri, 10 Oct 2008 12:03:00 +0100

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this issue I have!

I was happily sat in my mums living room today when someone banged on
the door I answered it to find the "gentleman" I bought my car from
stood there.

Back in September 2007 I acquired a car from a garage that my cousin
works for, I saw a car there that was perfect for my work (taxi driver)
and came to an arrangement with the owners of the garage to pay £200 per
month by cheque until the car was paid for (£2000 in total), In February
2008 I had a fall and detatched my wrist from my arm (totally broken)
and rendered me unable to work as the city council will not allow me to
return to work until the physio clear me. Although i am able to drive I
am not permitted to drive as a taxi driver, the story continues.......
I obviously fell behind on the payments and now owe £680 he has told me
that even though the car is registered in my name that does not make me
the legal owner and he intends to "smash a window to gain access" to the
car unless he gets £200 by the end of the month, as I am not working at
the moment this is a impossibility.

He has also said that if he doesnt do the above he will call in Debt
Collectors and thay can legally remove the car from the road is this
true??

As a single mum and struggling to survive like most people nowadays is
he within his rights to do the things that has been threatened above?

Any answer would be gratefully received.x
