A very good point. I used to feel embarrassed/ guilty when infrequently
collecting my primary school kids from school in the 80s, due to work
commitments. Few parents knew me and those that didn't looked at me with
concern.

I've lived in the same community for close on thirty years and heavily
involved in organising charitable events. Neighbours, friends and others in
the community know full well of me through the press and my activities.

In order to organise an event that I have been a principal player in for
almost thirty years, I now (as have others of the organisation) been
required to have both CRBs and Hygiene Sustificates.

The idiots at the local council don't have the gumption to assess whether I
am sound of mind but are demanding that the boxes be filled.

Sadly, it has now got to the stage that after this year's event, at our post
mortem meeting which we hold each year, we are now recommending that we do
not organise an event next year as the paperwork concerned and pressure put
upon us is too onerous. There has never been an Elfin issue with the event
which has become an institution on the community calendar.

I've stripped my kids naked at the appropriate age for their ablutions
without trauma. Perhaps I was too good a father. The buggers are still at
home in their mid 20s! Seriously, that relates to folk of their age now
having challenges leaving the nest.
