Subject: H1B visa stamp Posted on: Sun, 26 Oct 2003 20:48:22 GMT

Hi all,

I have a PhD from a top US engineering school and am now working as a
researcher for a Fortune 500 tech company in the Bay area. My status
changed from F1 to H1B last December (my H1B COS petition was approved).
Now, I need to travel to my home country (India) and will need an H1B
stamp on my passport to re-enter the US.

My question: Will this H1B stamping count towards the H1B cap limit for
the current year (65000)? I believe when my H1B COS was approved, it
already counted towards last year's cap. I am looking at the potential
hurdles that I might encounter in getting this visa stamp in India (I
don't leave until January). Just wanted to get the low-down on this.

Thanks and cheers,

Amit
