File transfered from the TSC -> VSC - AARRGGHH Posted on: Sun, 16 Nov 2003 19:01:23 EST

Hi all,

Even though I informed our immigration attorney that the instructions on the
I-140 form clearly state that it should be filed with the Service Center
that has jurisdiction over the place of future employment (which is Vermont
in our case), he insisted on filing it (and our I-485 applications) with the
Service Center that has jurisdiction over our place of residence, which is
Texas, because according to him 'filing it with VSC would result in the file
being transferred to TSC anyway, resulting in a delay!'

This week, through CIS's only status check, I saw that everything has been
transferred to Vermont, after 4 months of processing! (AARRRGGHH.)
In addition to wanting our lawyer to die a slow and painful death, I have a
couple of questions:

1. Will the receipt number change? I mean, will we still be able to check
the status of our SRCxxx cases, or will they get an EACxxx number (for
Vermont)?

2. Is a transferred case placed at the top or all the way at the bottom of
the pile? (Have a bad feeling about this)

Thanks for any insight,

Jozef
