Subject: keeping green card status Posted on: Mon, 17 Nov 2003 05:48:16 +0800

Now I got an unexpired green card. The problem is that I did not go back the
US for the previous full year. I did try to get the reentry permit (for
overseas study) but the entire application process got hold up for 1 year
and 4 months. I still do not know whether my reentry permit got approved or
not.

Now if I want to get back US, what ways can I take except surrender my
status and reapply for nonimmigration visa. Is it a smart move if I hold my
green card and explain my situation to the INS officers at airport?

Thanks for any advice
