No, I was talking about the electronic scanning of GCs. Nowadays, many
POEs have devices (they look sort of like credit card readers) that read
the bottom portion of (modern) GCs ("C1USA" followed by a bunch of
numbers, letters, and a lot of <<<<<). The same device is used to scan
machine-readable passports.
