Hi,
I am going to the U.S. for two weeks to visit a university (say March 1 to
March 15). The U.S. university is going to pay for my accomodation. I am a
German citizen.
My understanding is that I do not need a visa but that I can get a visa
waiver for business (WB). The only thing I need for this is a letter from
the U.S. university which states that I am their visitor. Is this correct?
After that, I plan to stay at a different place in the U.S. for about a week
to visit friends (say until March 22). I assume that the letter from the
university will state that I am visiting them from March 1 to 15.
On my way to the U.S., when I arrive at the airport, might that be a problem
that my plane ticket does not go back at March 15 from the same airport but
at March 22 from a different airport? Can I spend the whole three weeks on
a WB status, first for "business" and then for "pleasure"? Or do I need two
different things for these two parts of my journey?
Thanks for any comments,
