As stated it is 3 years, less 90 days, and YES, the government can be
pedantic about such things. If you have been married to, and living
with, a US citizen for 3 years, you are eligble. I recommend reading the
Guide To Naturlization, which can be found on the USCIS websie,

Your children being citizen does not qualify you for citizenship in any
way.

It is 3 years, less 90 days from the time you became a permanent
resident. For immigrant visa holders, this happens when you enter the
US on the visa. For people adjusting status, it is the date the
adjustment was approved.

Sure (with some restrictions.... If you are talking about periods of
under 6 months, no problem. Longer than that might require evidence that
you haven't abandoned your PR status)
