Hey guys,

I'm a snowboard instructor and I get H2B's each year to work in the
states and have done so for a while. I now have an American girlfriend
and am keen this year to get back into the country early to see her.
My H2B usually starts in mid November and I can enter and start on
that date. My question is can I enter the country before hand as a
tourist and then activate my H2B on its start date or perhaps enter as
a student and then leave to Canada and return on the H2B?

I've been told that entering the country before the start date and
change the status of my visa and mess it all up. Any advice/help would
be great.
