If you have a valid visa in your passport, and H-1B authorization, then
you can use that visa to enter the USA. Be sure to show the approval
notice for your current employer, tell the inspector that is the
approval you will be working under, and ask him to admit you until the
expiry of the new approval notice. This is normal stuff, but some of the
immigration inspectors aren't used to anything which is in any way
unusual; if he doesn't want to admit you through to the end of your new
approval period, you should politely ask to speak to a supervisor.
Although it is allowed and perfectly OK to enter in this way, there is
less risk of confusion if you get a new visa which matches your new
approval notice.

Most people from countries other than Canada can get a USA visa in
Canada. You should be able to find links to the USA Consulates in Canada
at the US Department of State web site.

Your visa is not relevant in this case. Your wife needs your new H-1B
approval notice, and probably proof that you actually are working for
this new employer and are in status in the USA - the approval notice, a
copy of your current I-94, and a letter from your employer should do it.
Check with the Consulate web site though as different Consulates have
different additional requirements. |
